Getting to your Isle of Wight Holiday Park

The Isle of Wight is a small island, measuring just 23 by 13 miles, but has excellent connections to the mainland. There are ferries from Portsmouth and Lymington that take around 30 minutes, with up to two sailings every hour. If you are travelling on foot you could 'fly' across to the island on the Southsea hovercraft in less than ten minutes. Once you have chosen your Isle of Wight holiday park, choose a route that suits your holiday location and travel requirements.

Ferries from Portsmouth sail to Fishbourne (north east coast) and Ryde (east coast). You can travel to Portsmouth Harbour by train. There are direct links to London Waterloo, London Victoria, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, and Southampton. Click here for discounted rail tickets.

Ferries from Lymington sail to Yarmouth on the west coast of the Isle of Wight. Lymington ferry terminal has a branch line train service to Brokenhurst, where you can then get a main line train to London and other major towns and cities. Click here for discounted rail tickets.

The hovercraft flies across from Southsea to Ryde on the east cost of the Isle of Wight. The ten minute trip is for foot passengers only. The nearest railway station is Portsmouth and Southsea. The Hoverbus runs a service from there directly to the terminal. Click here for discounted rail tickets.

Using public transport whilst at your Isle of Wight Holiday Park

The Isle of Wight train service is called Island Line and has stations at Ryde, Smallbrook Junction, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin. There is also a steam train service with stations at Smallbrook Junction, Ashey, Havenstreet and Wotton.

Southern Vectis operates a comprehensive bus service on the island with excellent access to towns, villages and tourist attractions.
